  • Surprise!

I'm leaving for Cardiff, Wales today. I think all of two or three people on here knew that. I'm sooooooo excited, I can't even tell you. I slept four hours last night - partially because I actually want to be able to sleep on the plane, and partially because I've got mad butterflies.

I'll be spending two days in London - I missed Poet's Corner at Westminster Abbey the first time I was there, and I am NOT passing it up this time around. Did I also mention that there's a Doctor Who museum in London? You see, that's the entire purpose of this trip: nerd myself to death with Doctor Who. And Torchwood. Can't forget Torchwood.

If you haven't heard of the wonderful world of Doctor Who, you should definitely check it out. It's a classic in terms of British sci-fi (longest running UK show, by the way), and it's made of so much win, it almost hurts. Come on, the Doctor meeting Shakespeare? And helping to destroy "Love's Labour's Found"? Genius! Just ask Cherity. I hooked her.

Anyway, Doctor Who and Torchwood are both filmed in Cardiff. Torchwood is actually set there, as are several Doctor Who episodes. Like I said, I'm going there to nerd myself to death. Two Doctor Who museums, plus a whole list of filming locations. I am THAT nerdy, people.

Plus, there's a castle in Cardiff. Who can pass up a castle? ....okay, maybe the biggest reason I want to go to the castle is because that where a few of my favorite Torchwood scenes were filmed, but that's entirely beside the point. The point is...

I'M GOING TO WALES! SEE YOU ALL IN A WEEK!

  • To My Old Friend

    Dear Writing,

I miss you. I know, I know, I've completely neglected you for...well, it's been a bit longer than I'd like to admit. And I may have been dabbling with your cousin the whole time. Yeah....I'd like to say things are over between Fanfic and I, but I won't demean you with that lie. He's way too fun to write and honestly, you knew it was inevitable for us to meet.

However, I do promise to start putting a bit more effort into our relationship. You know, doing the whole "writing journal" thing again (and you know exactly how much I hate that damn thing) and dusting off that glorious book The Right to Write and busting out The Broken Rose again. Seriously, it's a brilliant idea, we need to get that world out for other people. And hey, maybe next summer, we'll finally get that gorgeous statue at the Ren Faire because we finished!

I just have one request: could you send my muse back? I've been missing him terribly, and Cherity was so nice and gave me a prompt for him. I solemnly swear I'll take better care of him this time around (although I could argue that I've been taking great care of one of his alter-egos all summer long, but let's not make things more complicated than necessary, shall we?).

Let's start over with a blank page, Writing. ...yes, I apologize for that horrible, horrible pun; I promise to keep those to a minimum. But the point remains, I'm still willing, so long as you are. And I know deep down, you miss me too. Even if you're too proud right now to admit it. So let's meet tomorrow morning, say 7:30? I'll bring the hot chocolate if you bring the muse.

    Your almost-faithful love,
    Ashley

    Yep, It's Official

    Steven Moffat is a genius.

No, really. I'm fairly certain he is.

Cherity and I are chatting about the Doctor Who episode that was on tonight, Silence in the Library. Penned by the great Moffat. And we're in utter amazement for a few reasons.

    1. We're utterly confused. It takes a LOT to get both of us confused.

    2. We have a new catchphrase. First, there was "are you my mummy?" (still one of the creepiest things I've ever heard) Then came, "the angels have the phonebox" and "don't blink." (Sorry, can't think of an equivalent from Girl in the Fireplace.) Now, we have "count the shadows." All sound insanely ominous. And all are insanely vital to survival.

    3. THE SQUARENESS GUN RETURNED! That made me unbelievably happy.

    4. Steven Moffat is a genius. Seriously. His imagination, it's incredible. His writing, next to flawless.

There's more, but there's also an encore presentation of the episode. So that's all you're getting for now.
